Surface Architecture
Seattle_ AiR reinterprets two typologies to create a hybrid that includes a flexible artist space and a single family residence. The design of the live/work residence was influenced by the need in the neighborhood for flexible space that could accomodate many uses. The local artist community was slowly being pushed from their workspaces with the inundation of new townhomes. The project addresses the need for an alternative living situation by inserting a ground level work space and reconfiguring the typical site design.
