Manufacturing Community
Chicago_ Despite the proximity of public transportation, 65% of the residents in the area drive to work. The project intent proposes to mix light industry with live/work housing to create a community with a common goal: live and work in the same block. The occupants of the live/work units have the opportunity to work in their personal 'craftsman' space or look to the on-site facility for light industrial and manufacturing jobs. The project seeks to reintroduce a model once common in the Chicago region: urban manufacturing.
